About
“Well, this is the forest of Arden!”
Rosalind – As You Like It by William Shakespeare.
Much like the iconic forest which inhabits William Shakespeare’s comedy classic, The Arden Review serves as an escape for the art-deprived wanderer, bringing you the latest in the world of arts and culture.
After all, the world’s a stage, and we have notes.
Meet the author
Lydia Sheldon is an Australian freelance arts journalist with a strong background in the performing arts industry, having studied a BA in Contemporary and Applied Theatre and performed scenes from Macbeth on The Globe Theatre and Sam Wanamaker Playhouse stages in London during the 2016 Shakespeare’s Globe Summer School. In 2017, Lydia had the exciting opportunity to interview one of her favourite actors of stage and screen, Charles Edwards (Downton Abbey, The Rings of Power), during his run as Professor Henry Higgins in Julie Andrews’ Australian Tour of My Fair Lady. Since then, Lydia’s passion for learning from industry professionals and critiquing live theatre flourished into what you see today in The Arden Review. As You Like It was Lydia’s first experience of seeing Shakespeare performed on stage at age 11, which immediately became her favourite of the bards work. Therefore, it seemed only fitting that the name of this review draw inspiration from it.
